  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Looking for recommendations..

To start off, I booked a 6 day cruise down to the western Caribbean in January. Going with me will be my gf of about 7 years, and I plan on proposing to her during this trip. What I need from you guys is some recommendations on two things.

1)Some fantastic NC sticks that I can buy beforehand that will help me celebrate this occasion correctly. :)

2)Some good Cubans to get my hands on while in down in Grand Cayman and/or Jamaica. I know GC has a La Casa Del Habana in which I'm planning on going to, but I have only had a couple different Cubans before and am looking for recommendations.

Thanks all!

That's a tough call bro. you need to select the sticks that work for you.
As far as a cuban- go for a great Cohiba, H. Upmann always rocks. Or a good Montecristo Edmundo kicks ass too.

First off congrats on asking your gf the big question! The wife and I took a cruise a few years ago and had a great time.

For something NC to celebrate with Opus, Pardon 64 or 26 I'm sure someone can suggest something even better.

Jamaica is known for its fakes, I'd hold off and wait till you get to the LCDH in the Grand Cayman, its only a short walk from the dock. The staff is very helpful, tell them what NC you like and they will make some suggestions.

Bring something that you like that is special to you. Being limited to a small amount of sticks you plan to bring you should bring something you already like. If you like Padrons, get a 1926 or 1964 aniversary. Or a top line Ashton VSG with some age.

I agree with the Dutchman, ask for reccomendations from the owner at GC. You could get a sampler of a bunch of singles as a test to see what you like when you get back home. Have a nice drink at the shop and enjoy a smoke while you are there if time permits.

Yeah, I know LCDH is pricey. I setting aside around $300 out of my cruise budget to grab cigars while Im down there. Only problem is figuring out how to get them back. I'll be happy with whatever that gets me though.

Take yer favorite cigars to celebrate. Whichever they are.

For CCs, it really depends on what ye like; for example, I'm a Partagas skank and also love Bolivar and Montecristo. I also prefer smaller cigars (Petit Corona to Robusto) than a double corona.
