I came across this article and was curious to know what everyones thoughts on it are. Is this just a ploy to get smokers to vote for them? Is so I think that it would be stupid tactic because why would you piss off the majority just to get a small group of people to vote for you. Your thoughts...

Lying about their true beliefs on this subject doesn't make sense. If they lie then they alienate and lose with both groups. It is in their best interest to pick a side and stick by it. Given that I am inclined to believe that they believe in what they are saying. But they are politicians so perhaps that view is a bit naive on my part....

I think now when people are wanted less government it is the right thing to say, give more control to the local governments. Smokers really only make up a small, very small percentage. However, those that think government has too much control is a much larger and growing group each day. But, they will say anything to get the votes.
