I need the collective wisdom of you all! I am going to my first lounge later this month, I am taking a trip and I will be going to the Vault in Meridian Idaho…I know some basic rules, not to stack dimes, I will bring my own tools etc…I plan to buy from their humidor, I have my eye on some Pardons they may have….but I would like to know what other things I should know! I don’t want to make a fool of myself!

The only other thing I can think of is not to grind out the cigar when you're done with it because it'll stink up the room. Just leave it in the ashtray to burn out on it's own.

Which Padron are you gonna get?

Do they also serve booze there?

Now that's something I never thought to look for in a cigar shop :ROFLMAO:

Don't talk politics unless everyone is wearing the same "Vote for ........shirt" and you agree with them.
Most shops will be happy to cut for you and there should be plenty of lighters sitting on the tables,
Sometimes sitting quietly and just enjoying a cigar is a nice way to spend your time.
If the shop isn't too busy engage the tobacconist, most shop owners love talking to and educating their patrons.
Respect the humidor, you don't need to touch every cigar, if you drop it you've bought it.
Do not wear powerful perfume or cologne,
Ask before lighting a cigarette or flavored tobacco.
Never ever tell someone how to smoke, light, or select a cigar unless asked.
If you are going to smoke one buy two or three or if they sell drinks have several. It's hard to make a living with the money they make on a single cigar.

Basic rules of civility and conversation are always appreciated, you'll have a great time, everyone there will have at least one thing in common, they enjoy cigars!

Well, I think you will definitely pretty up the place.

I think smoking rooms are typically very old fashioned and centered around gentlemanly conduct and manly conversation. Part of the gentlemanly conduct part is being helpful and courteous to ladies, should there be one present. A gentleman counts it as a privilege to offer a light to a lady. With that in mind, an offered light works out a lot better with a smaller gauge cigar, or a perfecto. Just a little thing to consider. Most of us find a larger gauge cigar to smoke cooler and draw more easily but I am guessing you already know that and know what you like.

Everyone is curious about what the next person is smoking, and I am sure the other customers present will take a particular interest in your smoke. With that in mind, I would leave the band on until you have nearly smoked up to it.

I think the main thing is to just be comfortable and relaxed, and smile/ignore any condescending buzzkills who want to put their masculinity on display for you to ooh and awe at. Such things do happen. You can always stand up and walk around, admire the sticks in the humidors, and resume sitting in a different seat. You are there for your enjoyment, not someone else's entertainment. So, enjoy, and Happy Smokes!

I am not sure how big the lounge is you are going to is but I have noticed that larger lounges tend to have 2 separates groups of people. If space allows, their tends to be the one group that likes to talk and socialize and be more outgoing even if they do mot know each other. On the other hand, you have people that go to the lounge because they want to relax and disconnect for the time it takes to smoke an hour so they tend to sit more isolated from everyone. I don’t know your personality but I’d recommend you be aware of where you sit, who your sitting with and try to sync up your personality types so you enjoy your visit and not interrupt someone else’s. Just my humble opinion. Enjoy your trip.

I would not look into it too much. I’ve seen females in the lounges, not a lot, but, also not to the point where anyone is trying to light a cigar for them. Smoking in the lounge is a non event. I agree that some people will talk and some don’t. It’s nice to smoke in a comfortable chair. Overall, don’t sweat it. BTW, what does “stacking dimes” mean?

Stack dimes.... To make a fool of yourself contorting around a cigar to see how long you can get the ash!

I am thinking the 1926 if they have it! I am not sure about booze but I will plan on a drink if they have it!

It looks like a pretty nice place but they do not mention alcohol or other drinks on their website. May be worth a phone call before going, I don't know anything about the alcohol laws in Meridian Idaho.

Most shops are very accomodating, some, even if they do not have a liquor license will have ice, glasses and snacks.

Padron 1926 is one of my favorite smokes, hands down. The 1926 in natural wrapper, #6 is a great one. Whatever you pick, enjoy it and have a relaxing time! A lot of great advice has already been written above, for sure.
