  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

The delicious smell of Mac Barens Virginias really draw me to them, however they bite me like a rabid chihuahua. From what I have read it must just be a body chemistry incompatibility. Did lots of reading and decided to try a little something last night.
I took a couple ounces of Virginia #1, added a little bourbon and shook it up. Replaced the lid to the mason jar with tented up aluminum foil and baked it at 220 deg f for two and one half hours. This stuff smells even more delicious than when I started. Tried smoking s bowl this morning but seems to still have the bite to it. Gonna rest it a bit and see how that may change things.

Any ideas?

I have yet to personally try any Mac Baren brands, but have read they can be bitey. Other than the usual try and smoke slower advice, maybe try cutting it with a bit of Prince Albert.

I get a lot of bite out of FVF. I've had VA flakes like HU Sunset that didn't bite me as bad as fresh FVF. No major issues with MB though. What were you drinking with it?

Try Orlick Golden Slice. I like FVF, but it can bite. OGS to me still has nice VA flavor but is more gentle on the tongue.

Modern Virginia is the only baccy I brought with me for our Christmas trip. I didn't realize it's likely to bite.

I can't recall if it bit for me the only other time I partook in it.

Something that Mac Baren does likes to fight with my microbiology. I can get away with some of their Vintage Syrian or ODF, but everything else is murder. I thought I had cancer in my lymph nodes after smoking some of their navy rolls. Seriously. Almost died. The end.

"Try a little something"?, did you really fvcking say "try a little something"? Dude, you may have to give up your man card for that.....

Women say "try a little something" when they test out a new purse, or new shoes. Dudes may get away with saying it when playing with their little girls. But when referring to a pipe is just a bit too much.....

Okay, just had to harass you bout that, hope you aren't offended.

After resting the remainder of the "cooked" tobacco for a couple of weeks, I smoked every last morsel of it and loved it! It still had a little bite but not as bad as it was in the beginning. Gonna order a pound and try cooking it with bourbon and vanilla this time. May even try cooking it with some spiced rum...

People don't call it MacBitin for no reason. I can only smoke the HH blends. Since they don't agree with my physical make-up I just moved on. Too many other blenders for me to punish myself like I stuck my wife's hot curling iron in my mouth...
