What kind of wheel is that on the rotary tool? Would have taken me hours to get something like that done. I’ve recently taken on my first project involving wood and realize I’m out of my depth so I’ll take any opportunity to pick some brains.I had some scrap wood laying around in the shop. I’ve kinda been wanting an ashtray for the shop instead of just ashing on the floor & flicking nubs into the woods behind the shop. So, I made one. It turned out to be a pretty good little 30 minute project.

Seems like I remember reading about that on another tread somewhere. I have a scrap piece of thin galvanized metal that I was thinking about cutting a piece out to line the bottom with.Cool, HD has a "bar sealer" that will protect the wood from burns and add a shine if you want to go in that direction.

Yep, the one I used came in a little kit with a bunch of different attachments. I actually used a hole saw bit to cut the holes & the dremel to sand um smooth. It is a Dremel sanding tool. You can replace the sandpaper portion when it wears out. You should be able to find in most larger stores like Menards, Lowes or Home Depot.
Looks GREAT! The only thing I would change would be to cut a small block of wood to put by each of the slots so your cigar would lay flat and not angled down.I let the stain dry overnight & wound up cutting & using an old license plate from a vehicle we no longer own for the bottom.View attachment 117877
Not a bad idea!!! I’ll probably wind up making another one for the back porch now that I’ve got a basic concept of how to put one together. This one was just made from stuff I already had laying around. I’ll probably pick up a thin piece of plywood to use for the bottom of the next one instead of using 1x4s. I’ll use some small blocks or something for the cigar to lay flat on it.Looks GREAT! Some stain on there would look great as well! Nice work fellas...I used copper to remedy the tippy down deal
