  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Not really a bourbon drinker, but recommendations from fellow Botler's have been right on. Tell me something how well does it go with cigars?

I haven't tried the 46 yet but ran across some Henry McKenna 10 year old and it's pretty damn good for under $30.00 a bottle.

I had the 46 the other night very smooth and tasty. Did some say they that this will only come out once a year? If so I will have to stock up. The website has been working for me.

Yeah, I was told by my sister who is a Makers faithful, she also belongs to some Makers club, that this was a trial run. They only shipped out some 20,000 or something cases. It was the only production they were doing this year and said if it sold well and got a good response they'd make it a staple starting next year. Who knows. She could be wrong. I know at the liquor store I bought it at they were told something similar and haven't been able to keep it on the shelf. Maybe its because my fat ass bought like 9 bottles at one time..

Finally gave the Makers 46 a go this past weekend. I was at our lake cabin on a hunting trip in a dry county and this was the only bourbon in the house so I had several days to really give it a good go.

In short I wasn't really impressed. I found the flavor to just be makers with some vanilla after taste and the one thing I really took away from it every night was very bad heartburn. Thought it was just me, but one night a buddy had two glasses and the next day he was complaining of the same thing. I'm a bourbon guy and have drank tons of different bourbons, but this is the first time I can ever recall this happening to me.

In the future if someone offers me a glass I won't turn it down, but I won't be rushing out to pick up a bottle either.

Only 2 1/2 more weeks until my contest diet is over and I can sit outside, sip a glass of Makers 46 and enjoy a cigar. The best part about it...my bday is 2 days after my contest. I'm thinkin about going and picking up a few OpusX to celebrate the end of hell (my contest diet) and my bday. I haven't even tried the Makers 46 yet so hopefully it goes well with an Opus. Any suggestions on cigars that go well with Bourbon?

I am a bourbon drinker too and I am not so sure I disagree with you. It is OK, but not worth a premium and certainly not as good as say Woodford or even Buffalo Trace. In fact, I think the regular MM is still a better value
