The Masterpiece Black is another winner from the folks that brought you Don Cervantes Tres Maduro and the Masterpiece Platinum cigars smokers have been enjoying so much. Excellent construction thanks to an old style en tubado rolling method makes for a stick that provides a solid grey ash that can be enjoyed on its own merit. The darker wrapper was seamless though the bumps on it hinted at something one would find usually in a maduro or possibly a Brazilian San Andres wrapper.
Masterpiece BlackAt first light, the cigar shows a difference from the Masterpiece Gold by having more pronounced flavors of cedar right off the bat, whereas the Golds flavor profile is more subtle. Thick smoke from an easy draw helps the experience by providing more flavor across the palate.
On the second half of the cigar, the cedar flavors remain strong, but are joined with hints of leather and light pepper.
The final third concludes with consistency on all fronts, finishing with more of a medium finish than the Masterpiece Gold yet easy enjoyable enough for smokers of all levels who seek something unique to add to their rotation.
Pair with fuller bodied bourbon such as Elijah Craig 12 year.
