Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
Bought it from a local BM prob 18 months ago. Probably only smoked 10 bowls out of it.Meer can be delicate, did you buy it new and from a replicable source? (I.e. One of the big guys). Given that there is aparently no other damage to pipe just judging from your pic they may can do something for you. Sorry though, that's a tough break.... Definitely too soon right

Eh the guy at that BM is a jerk. Think I'll cut my loses on this one. Probably get a Strambach next time if ever.I'd take it back and show them. At the very least I would hope they would offer you a discount on a replacement.

I've read that strambach makes meer for every one since they have a patent on the processI have had two of those strambach pipes too and they both have cracked on me in that exact spot.
I am gentle on my pipes, there is something wrong with that brand.

They may make generic blocks of meer for market distribution but they do not carve all the meer pipes. Check out Altinok's website and all the different carvers.I've read that strambach makes meer for every one since they have a patent on the process
cheap ass mother....rsI looked into Strambach pipes recently. They use a unique process for cultivating their own meer. They call it 'cultured' meerschaum. Not block, but not pressed either.
I read around a bunch of threads and cracked shanks seem to be a reoccurring pattern with the brand.
