You probably need to sell both nuts to pay for the book!?! LOL We're talking 40 pounds of book and the presentation case, plus another 10 pounds for the external shipping case!?! Can't wait to see the finished product!

It looks like a crazed desire for perfection has priced this out of most people's budgets. I'm sure it'll be amazing for the few who can afford to drop a couple grand, but I'm bummed that the new edition is not more on the order of the last one...

Just doing some math... 20 million HK dollars is roughly 2.5 million USD. If he does it at cost ONLY (and there are no more expenses). It would be $1250 plus shipping (50lbs from HK can't be cheap) if he does 2000 books. If he does 5000 like last time that would be roughly $500

Again that's with no profit and no more expenses. Any guess at this point is wild speculation at best but like you guys already said it won't be cheap.

Yeah, that was the math I did to justify throwing out a figure of two grand. It sounds like the 2000 copies have not been printed yet, so I assume printing costs will be substantial, plus shipping as you noted. And keep in mind he's not selling 200 of them.

I find the (clearly very intentional) rarity of it a bit counter to its status as a reference. If it's $2000 US or more and only 2000 copies exist (only 1800 of them available publicly), it's not a reference most Cuban cigar lovers can actually reference with any frequency. That's a shame. I'll donate to Trevor's cubancigarwebsite.com instead (and have already donated a box and bands in the past).

Unfortunately, it does look like it will cost a pretty penny for sure. Seeing that this is his passion and he has spared no expense to produce it, I think (speculating) he is targeting this to cigar collectors who are, and have the means to, into the rare and hard to find cigars.

Seeing that it will most likely be released in 2014, it at least gives some time to start saving to potentially obtain one. Although there is 2,000 copies that will be produced, I don't think that he will have a problem getting rid of them.

Reference guides are never cheap, unfortunately...

Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly makes this book so special? I'm not saying its not worth it, I just genuinely want to know.

I think it is the attention to detail and the effort he personally puts in to the book coupled with his passion and knowledge of cigars. It is the ultimate cigar porn book for Cuban Cigars

Read Nino's blog, can only do it justice. Is the most comprehensive cigar reference book with 8x10 photographs of the highest quality to start with. The volumes (books) alone weigh 30 pounds.

I'm really hoping for more than 2000 copies (1800 in all reality). In the last paragraph Niño said the final count and price are still to be determined.

To me this is a once in a lifetime type of purchase. I didn't have a chance to get the first edition and there is no promise of a third edition (10 years between the first and second editions means its going to be a long time even if there is a third).

The amount of knowledge poured into the first book (from what I've heard anyway) is tremendous. Being that this is a four book set I can only imagine that it has increased.

I also have a great respect for someone who puts so much effort into the quality aspect of it. As far as being worth it or not I can't answer. It will be an individual decision but to me it definitely is.

well said Trent.

The first edition is considered THE resource for cuban cigars. I remember tracking one down and I have to say that the knowledge that I gained, combined with the quality of the body of work and photography is worth every penny. Many nights, I would read different chapters to help expand my cuban cigar knowledge as well as try different marcas that I would not have thought to try. I still refer to it from time to time.

I will be on the hunt for the 2nd edition when it comes out.
