  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Yea thats right, I woke up yesterday morning, walked outside and no car.... what a shitty ass feeling....

I thought six months ago when I paid cash for a '95 civic that nothin would happen to it, afterall I did have nice cars parked there for months prior....

So yea most likely stripped by now, and now I have to wait on the Insurance company to realize its gone and pay up....

That sucks dude! That feeling is the same no matter what the vehicle is worth. Hopefully it will work out quickly for you.

Dang!!! That just blows Clay! Talk about getting violated. I hope your insurance goes against the norm and pays up quickly. Sorry to hear about it. This kind of stuff really makes me angry.

That sucks.

If the insurance company tries to put you through the ringer let me know. I may be able to give you a few tips so your claim gets settled easily and quickly.

I would start by getting your title and any keys you have for this vehicle ready to hand over to them.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

That does suck! It happened to me once so I know how you feel. Luckily, I got the car back. It was just punks that wanted to joyride and party in it. They broke out the back window and there were some cigarette and pot seed burns on the upholstery but other than that it was OK. I hope you fare as well.

Post if you need some help with the Ins co One of my best friends is a claims adjuster so I'm sure he can give some pointers on how to deal with this.

Crap, that completely sucks. Must have been a surreal experience to go to the car and not be there...

Hopefully the robber dies in a car crash!

That sucks dude. . . I know the general feeling. One night I walked out to find my car not where I left it. It turned out that the apartment complex had my car towed because they didn't see my permit. After having the tow-truck co. yell and curse at me and tell me I "hid" the permit sticker they finally brought it back. But that feeling of walking out and it not being there is something I'll never forget!

Sorry for your loss. But here's an interesting story:

I had my Ford Bronco stolen from my driveway back in Feb 1998. It was 8 years old at the time and I no longer had full insurance coverage ... so I figured I was out of luck.

Until one day in May of 2000.....

I received a call from the Sheriff's office in El Centro, CA (a few miles from the Mexican border). Apparently, the police had siezed my car during an arrest and took possession (it was probably being used to run drugs across the border). They then sold it at auction to a local resident who put in a rebuilt engine, brakes and exhaust. He then went to register under his name, but the inspector discovered that the VIN numbers didn't match. The original VIN tag on the frame was never removed and they contacted me based on my stolen vehicle report. I flew down, paid $120 in fees and drove my Bronco home again. I kept it about six months and then sold it for $1500.

It was pretty awesome knowing the system does work sometimes. I felt sorry for the guy who spent time and money on it ... but I guess that's the chance you take when you buy cars at auction.

I hope you have a good agent. Knowing the value of the car will be good ammo for you. If you would pm me with the serial number and the miles I will give you a retail amount to help you with the insurance company.

Start with retail book amount minus mileage deduction and dont forget to add the amount that tax and licence fees would cost.

Here in Kentucky Most (not all ) insurance companies will settle with you for retail nada value plus/minus for miles and equipment and add 6% for the tax credit and about 25 dollars for licence fees.

Let me know if I can help.
