My local B&M got them on Monday, so far i have smoked the Robusto and the Lancero. These are fantastic sticks. They start off with quite a blast of spice but then quickly mellow out to a wonderful medium bodied, smooth, complex flavor. I find that they are a bit similar to the Tobacos Baez. These are blended by Jaime Garcia as a tribute to his father, so these lack some of the Don Pepin Garcia characteristics.

I split a box with a buddy of mine (pre-ordered at a Pepin event here) and I'm supposed to go pick it up tomorrow. The b&m also got El Triunfadors in, but they're selling them in limited quantities.

I have tried 2 of the robustos, OK stick, but, IMO, not worth what they are charging for them.

I am not sure yet, but you can be sure i won't price gouge (sp) I have seen retail on these range anywhere from 9.50 to about 12.00. I would probably go somewhere in the middle. Then five bucks for shipping and you would probably be looking at around 60 bucks including shipping. Nothing is final yet as i still haven't received the sticks. I have also had a ton of people from my b&m hassling me to sell to them. I figure BOTL has been good to me so i will sell most of them here. If you decide you are really interested, shoot me a PM and we can work out the specifics.

I heard from Pete(well from his keyboard) that these are the Cabiguan Maduro in a lancero size, based on the taste, and that they are his cigars, I am inclined to believe him.

Official 5'er price for El Triunfador... I paid 10.50 a stick, unfortunately there was no box discount, so the price was 10.50 x 25 = $262.50 / 5 = 52.50 + 5.00 for s/h = 57.50... this is as fair as i can be with the price I paid. You may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

Just to clear up a few things about El Triunfador.

When I talked to Dave about a week and a half ago, I mentioned we had about 300 boxes in stock which came in from the factory in Nica. Since then we have received another 250. This is a small run of cigars to protect the trademark. Each year we will make up to 25,000 sticks or 1000 boxes for sale to protect this mark and have enough to cover the demand.

There are no secrets about this cigar. This is a small run compared to others we make. I originally was only going to have them available to a small group of retailers until Cigar Aficionado wrote about it and blew my little secret. Truthfully, Dan from New Havana could have purchased all of this years production and sold it over the next 12 months without a problem.

I am making this size only until I figure out what I am doing with brand. When will I have a full line around the name? I do not know. Could be next year could be 2010 but I am not sure. I have no real grasp of what I want to do with the brand name yet other than protect it. The blend is very simply a Cabaiguan Maduro in a Lancero size. I have no plans to make a Cabaiguan Maduro Lancero ever and I thought this was a perfect cigar to use for El Triunfador. When and if I do come out with a full line of El Triunfador cigars, this cigar might go away and the blend and sizes will be different.

BTW, There are not that many boxes of Cabaiguan Maduros on the streets. We have made only 300 boxes of each of the two sizes. Not many at all. You will see more next year of Cabaiguan Maduro when I do the full release of that line to all Cabaiguan retailers. For now only the top 10 Cabaiguan retailers have them.

I could easily make more than 25,000 per year but it is much easier for me to do a specific amount and have one release per year until I decide to complete the El Triunfador concept.

I hope this clears things up.

Regards,
Pete

BTW, The Sugg.Retail for the El Triunfador is $9.00.

Pete, thanks for clarifiying. Tegu, I apologize to you for not believing that this was a cab maduro lancero. Also tells me i got screwed on my two most recent boxes of El Triunfador's. It's amazing how a C.A. article will make a price skyrocket. I may have to reconsider this 5'er deal, I don't want it to be unfair to anyone at all and I am certainly not trying to get myself involved in any kind of negativity associated with Tatuaje/El Triunfador/Pete. I guess i will leave it this way for now: See what you can find out there, try newhavanacigars.com or bigeasycigars.com. I don't know of any other surefire bets for these sticks. If you can't find the sticks elsewhere i will gladly sell them, but I can't sell these and lose money, so the price of 57.50 will have to stay....sorry all, wish i got a better deal. My first box was much cheaper but I am not selling that one. Pete, do you have specific internet retailers that your refer people to? I know Dan at New Havana and I have spoken with Eric at BigEasy but other than those two i am not aware of any internet retailer with access to your products like the two mentioned? Sorry to all for any misleading or confusing info you may have gotten from me, i write what i read about and hear from others. Amazing how rumors form so quickly.

This is why Dan is so good, None of his stuff is marked up over suggested retail. I am kind of pissed that some people are charging over suggested because of that CA article.
Eric is also very good and another great friend of mine.

Pete

And add this in for Eric. We live in Southern California. The tax capital of the world. There is a 46% tax out here... So between Dan and Eric, you get some great cigars!
