  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

My Father Limited Warning.

Yes, if they smell, DON'T put them in your humidor/tupperdor! The smell will premeate things.

I had this same thing happen with a box of Camacho Liberty--box, lid, and coffins all smelled sharply. After letting the box set for a while, it seems to smell of nothing but lovely cedar now :)
 And guess who's having a panic attack right now? Can't wait to get back to the dorm to check on this!

Justin good catch. I too must have been lucky. After reading your post and my heart rate excellerated the wife said she hasn't seen me move that fast in years when I flew down to the basement to check the cigars.

When I checked my box (inside outside) each coffin (inside outside) and cigars, all I got was a cedar smell.

Left the wife and mother-in-law check and they both only smelled cedar.

Sorry to hear about yours and a couple others and hope that all turns out well for you.

Box # 391

Good to know Larry but I would open a coffin and give a snif as well.
Justin, thanks for the additional headsup, I did the same thing Earl (GreyGhost) did and even had the wife smell each individual coffin and nothing but the wonderful smell of cedar.

I have box #71

The flavors were very muted and one-dimensional. I thought that it should have some more strength or change up the flavor because of how big the darn thing is. Also, $18 is a bit pricey. Of course, there were stems in them. I have noticed that a lot lately with Tatuaje and DPG cigars.

If you want, let me know and I will post the pic of the Tatuaje HCS that had 3 huge stems in it. I have been told that the stems are normal, but these were huge.
I was smoking a Liga Privada No.9 Belicoso a few months ago and it was horrible! No flavor other than a disgusting bitterness. I decided to put it out and unwrap the cigar, and sure enough, a gigantic stem.
Even the topnotch smokes have a bad stick now and again, eh?

The B&M I run got in boxes 522, 523, and 524. I am so tempted to get all of them just because they are sequentially numbered.

Box #573. Smelled a lot of varnish/lacquer, inside the coffins the smell was stronger. The cigars themselves smelled fine. Took all the cigars out of the coffins.

WOW, that is worse then mine...

How can you smoke a cigar with that many stems in it?

:wtf:

Normally I leave stems in because I don't want to mess with them, but the draw was tight. Of course after I removed the stem in the middle, I had to throw the cigar away because it was super hot and had no flavor :sadpace:

Edit: That picture is a Tatuaje HCS, not a MF LE

Nope. Pete Johnson said that this is normal. I don't understand that because as soon as I pulled the stems out, the cigar was un-smokeable.

I may be oblivious when I'm smoking a cigar, but I've never found a stem like that in any cigar I've smoked. I guess there's a first time for everything though. I picked up 3 of these LE's yesterday. I only got the scent of cedar from the boxes...no varnish. I plan on smoking one today, so that I can finally have an opinion of these for myself. Seems like members are all over the place with these...but I'm learning to not gauge everything by what I read. :cbig:

Wow, that is crazy. I guess the conclusion that I drew about the flavor being off due to the stem was due to some other factor then.

Well I'm glad I sat down and smoked one of these for myself. I thought it was a great stick. Started out nice with pepper and spice and took on a sweetness about halfway in. If I could afford to...I'd like to grab a box, just to have enough to enjoy a few and have some left to put down for a while.
