  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ok, I just lit up the brand new My Father robusto... I purchased while shopping for some sticks to send over to the sandbox.

I really want to try the lancero, but they don't have any just yet...

Solid construction - almost tight/hard. I clipped it clean & it has a perfect draw. First thing that comes to mind when I give it a pre-light taste - raisins?

It lit up easily & imediately reminded me of the Tobacco Beaz. It has a little more spice up front, but has a very clean & refined taste as compared.

Very creamy & rich, solid white ash, razor burn line...

So far - real good medium stick.

It's a very clean smoke. I had to do a bit of touch-up near the end.

Based on the fact that I tend to smoke stronger cigars, I don't see myself purchasing alot of these, especially because of the price. I definitely prefer the El Centurian if I have a craving for a top notch Pepin blend. (Not to mention some of the more bold blends done for Pete).

That said, I will probably snatch a few lanceros to see how these age. I think that given a year or more - these will be particularly tasty.

This thread inspired me. I am smoking the robusto as I type. I usually like the heavier bodied blends that Pepin does. This is a nice departure from the strong stuff though. Every once in a while I like to have a lighter smoke and this might be my default for a while. Really good smoke. Not the disappointment that God of Fire was for me.

Keep in mind that Jamie Garcia was the primary blender for these sticks as a tribut to his father, that may account for some of the flavor differences or a departure from your expectations, regardless, smoked another lancero tonight and for a nice well rounded, medium boided stick it is great. I really enjoy these

I will have to try this stick although I prefer the kick ass Pepins versus the lighter ones.
