My First Tat...

So I just smoked my first Tat, a red label gifted to me by a certain awesome FOG about a month ago. I've smoked far too few cigars to give an adaquate review, but here's my noobish opinion.

To summarize in one word: yummy!

It reminded me just a bit of an RP Olde World Reserve, which is one of my favorite sticks. I was rather suprised by this cigar in several ways. It was not as strong as I expected, either in body or flavor. I was worried it might be too peppery, but it wasn't at all. In fact, I thought this cigar was pretty creamy, which was an awesome surprise. There was also a specific flavor in this cigar that was unfamiliar to me, but great. Overall the taste was excellent!

I did have a sluggish burn, so maybe I should keep these at 65% or something for a couple days before smoking (I'm still figuring all that kind of stuff out). I thought it got a bit too leathery or tarry or something at the last 2" for me personally, so that's where I quit.

Bottom line: I had an unfair expectation on this cigar due to all the hype on this forum about Tats, but I have to say I was still satisfied. If I had another one, I'd lite it up right now :smokingme

So how do the Havana IVs compare to the other Tat labels?

A few weeks ago I smoked my 1st tat Havana IV Vic and I loved it. So I bought a box of them, and a few single blacks, browns and white labels... Now if I only had more money I'd be set or dirt poor!!!

I only wish I could of bought the whole jar..My local B&M allowed me to buy 2 at a time. I gifted one of them and was able to purchase the last black they had giving me a few to enjoy after they rest a few more months.

The Wharf here in Dayton had a jar of Blacks that they kept in the back, I went in to get one and they were gone...I'll check back soon to see if they were really gone or if he just wanted to keep them for himself, lol. They have the white labels, though, so I'd like to try one of those sometime.

I like the brown and black a little better, but the price on the reds ia more affordable.

You may also find that alot of your cigars will smoke and burn better at 65% or even 60%. My humi sits nicley at around 62% and I am having less burn issues and less tight drawing sticks at the lower RH. If you don't want to change the Rh in you humi you might try dryboxing your smokes for a day or two. meaning you put the cigar in a dry ciagr box outside of your humi, to lose a bit of moisture before smoking it.
