My greatest BOTL memory....

....was meeting up with all the Brothers of the Month in San Diego. Roughly 20 brothers all in once place hanging out for half a week:

• Crashing on the couches, floor, anywhere you could
• Seeing Cowboy Mike drop his pants and go skinny dipping in Jeff's pool
• Noticing Tyler turning into a lobster
• Getting and giving Ray a birthday cake
• Moro making those killer Mojitos
• Chuck making an emergency pick up when I was stranded in the gay district
• Mike buying all the liquor, Ken buying all the food
• Jay and Aaron cleaning everyone out at the poker table
• Finding out how talkative Eric really is when he's drunk
• Hanging out at Hoffers with the locals
• Unexpected fireworks over the skyline & ocean
• Moro wearing the sombrero in the Mexican restaurant
• Omaha!
• Hendy calling Pete Johnson in Nicaragua and us helping choose the Boris blend
• That tri tip Bill cooked up....fuck it was good!
• Getting a new nickname from Wade
• Eating more IHOP than I have in years
• Getting drunk by 10am and passing out by lunchtime
• Hitting golf balls over the back fence (and through the dog house)
• Giving cigars till you're blue in the face and still somehow getting more in return
• Jeff & Stephanie's generous hospitality
• Smoking the best cigar of your life with the best crowd of guys possible

And really, so much more. I'm forgetting 90% of what happened (probably cuz of the drinking). But suffice it to say I would have NEVER had that kind of trip, that kind of brotherly experience, without BOTL.

Hillcrest. Tricky area especially when your buddies drop you off in your dress whites on Halloween and you don't know how to make it home or really where you are. It will be awhile before I take a ride from a stranger again.

Yes as a matter of fact, it was Hillcrest....during the weekend of the annual GLB Pride parade (seriously, I'm not making this shit up).

It was a superb time! Get up, smoke and have coffee, have breakfast, smoke, smoke some more, go out, smoke even more, close the night with a cigar. Aaron pissing himself, Duane passed out like a college lad, Greg slicing himself, Tyler getting sunburned, Mike getting naked...I wouldn't mind missing out on those things next year!

Talking from personal experience you don't realize until its too late. Sure there are repeal prop 8 signs and colorful flags and some very feminine guys but the clues don't come together until it's too late.

No, no...I actually knew what I was getting myself into. Everyone else went to the zoo, I went shopping for vinyl records. I even took a bus across town to get to the Hillcrest area.

It's not my fault; that's just where the good vinyl record stores were located.
