If you know you are going to repaint it, put a set of thick magic markers in there and let your friends have fun drawing and writing on the walls for your New Years party (just make sure they know to keep to the bathroom only and to keep away from the incredibly obscene stuff).

When we recarpeted our old house many years ago, I bought 4-5 cans of spray paint and let the kids, their friends and our friends go wild. It was almost artistic!
