  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I used tea bags instead of gauze (tip from the dentist) and never used the meds.

Jason

That sounds really funny (or dirty, can't tell which) but it's actually true. When my wife had her wisdom teeth out she used herbal tea bags and it helped.

Also, you can go to a pharmacy and buy some L-Lysine, which is an amino acid that helps facilitate tissue growth. Vitamin E capsules will also help you heal faster. And of course no smoking at all until you're completely healed, as others have noted.

I've always used brandy for mouth pain, as I've told ye me love; but DO NOT mix it with the medications! Interesting tip on the tea bags...the tea in it has anything to do?

You will be fine! The wife had it done recently, and the novacane worked and only a little discomfort for a couple of days after! Good luck!

i think it depends on the dentist, personally. Ive had friends get wisdom teeth taken out and been in pain for a few days. when i got mine taken out, i was fine the next day. Other than slapping the crap out of my own face on the ride home and a small little hallucination everything went fine

When I had my right molar pulled out I didn't feel a thing the left one was a different story altogether no matter how much local anesthetic the dentist shot me up with it hurt like hell. I finally just grappewd the chair and asked him to yank it out. I was dripping with sweat but relieved the tooth was out. The hardest part for me was the gauze in my mouth since I have a pretty bad gag reflex other than that once I started gargling with warm water it felt really good and healed up pretty fast.

I had all the wisdom teeth pulled, maybe that is why I am a dumbass.

Since I am a recovering drug addict, I did not use narcotics. Double dose ibuprofen day #1 and took every 6 hours not every 4 hours and was fine on day #2 after the teeth came out. No meds needed at all. I did each side of the teeth 3 weeks apart so I could eat and drink from the good side. No problems about the pain. Good luck.

Been there done that too many times. You are getting good info here,,,take the pills as suggested,,,just because you are feeling better dont stop taking the meds and keep doing it for a couple of days. Tea bags are better than guaze,,,with guaze you get that yucky bloody mess and taste,,,with a tea bag you get a hint of tea with your bloody yucky mess. Don't sip thru a straw,,don't suck on anything no matter what,,,don't swish hard if you use salt water,,,and most certainly don't swish when you walk around outside after you have this done or you will pick up more than a dry socket. Ba dump bum ( rim shot )

Good luck!!

Have not done it yet...and I feel your pain Meg...I am probably not too far behind you! good luck and let me know how it goes! Nick
Well, i'm 'guessing' it doesn't hurt much after. But i sure will tell ya how it goes. My dentist also told me that it won't hurt with me because my molars aren't completely out so, they're still like soft, not hard, so i guess it's a good thing i'm gonna do it now that i'm younger.

Daniyal, i also puke very easily. I kept on gauging when the dentist wanted to put some plastic thing all the way at the back of my mouth to take an xray of my molars. The bottom ones won't come out, ever, unless i take them out now with the dentist, they are literally growing towards my other molars. The top ones are no problem, they have space to come out, but i rather get rid of them before they start moving towards the back and start biting my cheek.

I hate that plastic thing they try and shove it as deep as possible. I left my top ones in for far too long and my mouth was a mess they grew side ways and I had lacerations all over my inner cheeks. Still have the bottom ones though my dentist says I'll need general anesthesia to have them removed and I'm not looking forward to going to sleep to have them removed.

it doesn't hurt hurt, but the droning pain made it so i couldn't sleep. the vicodin felt great, but be careful its easy to get addicted to those! also the holes it left in my mouth were unbearable.. so much food would get stuck in there and you'd need a water syringe to blast it out (lots more than your thinking, like a fricken hamster). dont sweat it, you'll be eating burgers in no time.... believe me after a few weeks of apple sauce and milk shakes a burger is all i could think about :)

Conclusion… It doesn't hurt as long as you keep up with the pain killers when your supposed to. Got it! Thanks a lot you guys!
Now i really wanna get it over with.

Thou Jason, why tea bags? I mean, i'd love to try that out but isn't it a bit in the way? i have a small mouth.
