  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ronson- as mentioned cheap and works great
Xikar Flintfire 2- soft flame, looks great, works great. For when I'm hit the cigar bar and don't need to worry about wind.
Colibri- Using good fuel my only problem is the torch is pretty high and if I lower it I run into problems.

I primarily use a Blazer CG-001. It works great, holds a ton of butane, and I always know when to refill it. I also have a Blazer Zippo insert (works fine, doesn't hold much butane), and a handful of Ronson Jet-Lites (great deal at ~$3/each, but they run out of fuel without warning). I'm not a fan of most Colibris, but I received a free Colibri Figurado with a magazine subscription, and it's a decent (but heavy) lighter.
I've been using an Original Blaser for about 16 years now, still using the same one. The newer version looks sweet, might need to get a spare!

I have one of these and it's been going strong for about year now. I love it and carry it everywhere. It's a torch flame but it also has a soft flame in the mix. I love how it lights a cigar.

I recommend against Colibris and I see you are staying away anyhow. I have two that work but not very well at all. One of them is probably 5 years old now. It's a dual flame Vortex I think it was called. The other is a Trifecta or something. Both offer great heat but they don't have the most reliable ignition systems.

Ooh and that Alec Bradley table top lighter rules. My B&M keeps one on the counter and I typically opt for that rather than my own lighter.

I didn't even think about that one having a soft flame. I was looking at that one until you said that. Doesn't it light pretty easily? I just don't want to have problems lighting in the wind.

I have used just about every lighter out there,,,over the last 30 years there have been tons of them, trust me. Every single one has gone out,,,some faster than others. I still own some pretty impressive lighters,,,,but for the money and knowing that this thing will fire up every single time,,,RONSON beats the pants over all of them. I have been using mine for a year now and it works every single time. I found them at the Walmart Store and they had 9 of them,,,bought em all. I figger for $2.94 a piece I am good for the next 10-15 years and all I paid for all 10 was less than what I have paid for any lighter.

For the price, the Zippo insert is excelent! Especiallyfor me, who collect Zippos and trick them. Plus, I like it more than the ZippoBlu.

It's a decent single torch. I preffer the wind-proof originally meant for it; but the taste is...less than good. :barf:

I have a Xikar FlintfireII and ST Dupont Gatsby.

Both do an excellent job as soft flame lighters and I would highly recommend both.

Lighters do not like me. The more expensive it is, the faster it breaks. Buy a Zippo with a Zplus conversion kit. I've had one for over 3 years and it still works.
