  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Need prayers for my cat Po

My cat Po (Popoki) has become really sick. I brought him to the vet last Thursday night, and blood tests came back showing that he had anemia. What they didn't show was why? Po went into the hospital last Friday to get an ultrasound of his lower abdomen, to check for bleeding, masses...and whatnot. There was swelling in his stomach and his intestines...but more blood work didn't explain why. It's been thought that he has pancreatitis...and we're waiting on more lab work to come back hopefully by tomorrow. Po came home last night, because he hadn't eaten since last Wednesday, and we wanted to see if it was just because he was really scared at the hospital. He did eat, but I brought him back today because he was dehydrated and felt that they could provide better care. Now they're talking exploratory surgery to do biopsies for cancer or some other medical problem. Estimate for open surgery is $3700 and they can't guarantee anything. I have pet insurance...but they can't tell me what they'll reimburse...until they have a final diagnoses. I'm about $2500 into this already. I always told others that pet insurance would keep you from having to make a decision based on whether or not you have the finances to provide your pet the medical care they need...but that's exactly where I'm finding myself now. And I don't know what to do... :frown:

Sorry bro. Whatever decision you make it will be the right one because you will have his best interest at heart. In the meantime I hope he gets well soon.

I know what your going through! My lab was playing ball in the back yard and jumped so high it threw her off balance, came down on her one leg which fractured the bone. 4k later she is going to be normal they say. I have Pet insurance and it clearly states in the policy I bought what it covers. Did you read your policy carefully. In my case I have a $200 deductible and it pays 80% up to $20,000 annually (PetPlan). Prayers go out to you and Po!

You got it bro...Pets are part of our families and just as important. My moms Mini Dachshund broke her back jumping off the couch and was only 3 years old. The vet told them the surgury would be about $2500 and no gaurentees.
They did not have this pet insurance and couldn't afford the surgury without knowing the dog would come out ok. They decided to put her to sleep which was sad but nessessary. Sometimes as hard as it is we have to be realistic. We do what we can and I believe our pets know this. I hope things work out and will keep you in my thoughts.

In one way it is great to see other furry kid owners on here, but sad because of the situation. Do what you can, when I lost my cat Chester I still feel guilty I didn't have more money to help him, yeh yeah nothing could have saved him. But I tell myself if I had more money who knows what could have happened.. You and your "family" are in our prayers!!! IUf you need to talk feel free to contact me. Great now I am crying...

That really sucks. Having 3 cats of my own I often wondered what I would do in a situation like this and came to the conclusion that I can't answer it until it happens.

I am trying to find a nice home for two of them since my wife left as I originally got them because she loves cats and I am allergic to them and had to go on allergy medication year round. I can handle one and since she didn't want any of them would like to find a home for the other two.
