  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Need some help-KY and TN ppl

My wife and I are really considering moving south to kentucky or Tennesee.
Her job has become just way to much for her.
They now want her to work 105 hours a week untill further notice.
Indiana sucks bad where we are at and have been talking about moving for a while.
What i want is some idea from the Botl here that live in that general area.
If any on knows of a nice area to live let me know.
Once we find the city we really like we are going to talk to a realator.
we have looked at some houses that are about what we have now and could easily cut our morgage payment in half.
We also like the idea of better weather down south and no snow!!!
We just are so frustrated that we can't seem to have a good balence between work and family life and really think a new clean start would be the best for us.
We also want to be withing driving distance because most of our family is here.
We also want to do it before out 2 1/2 year old starts school.
Any though's suggestions?
please post here, pm me or if you would like drop me a line of my home or cell phone.
Also a good bonus would be to be near some of all of you and the fact that I could have some smoking buddies to hang out with!
Pm me for my phone #'s if ya like.

I can't help ya with the area but 105 hours is out of control. Unless they are paying her extremely well that is just nuts. I wish you both the best in finding a new home!

I grew up in middle Tennessee, the Nashville area and absolutely loved it. Moved to Atlanta about 15 years ago with my job and I'd go back in a heartbeat. Very good weather, with 4 distinct seasons. I do remember KY getting a lot more snow than we did. Very peaceful. My folks still live in Nashville and I get up there several times a year.

No state income tax, although some in the legislature would like to change that. Sales tax was high, above 8% now I believe.

Nashville has good pro sports with the Titans and the Preds...UT/Knoxville dominates the college sports scene.

East Tennessee is nice if you like the outdoors, with lots of kayaking, hiking. camping opportunities. I think that the northeast corner of the state can be a little unfriendly to outsiders, though. Don't know much about west TN headed towards Memphis.

Most of TN is rural, just rolling farmland and little towns. Let me know if any specific questions and I'll see what I can dig up.

I know zilch about Kentucky!

My sister and her husband just moved to Knoxville about a month ago. They said it was a little bit cheaper then the Jackson Metro area. I feel for you wife and 105 hours is crazy. I hope she gets paid by the hour and not salary.

we figured it out last night $3.04 a hour
That is BS for her. Amazing what people are asked to put up with. That is like a sweetshop hours and wages. Best of luck to you and Mrs. Sgresso.

:wtf:

At $25K per year, I would have told them to stick their job after requesting more than 60 hrs / week. At the 105 hr level your job title is basically "Slave". How does your wife deal with the bruises from the leg irons? :crackwhip

I hope you both can find someplace with better opportunities in the area you want to live.

In this neck of the woods, that would be grounds for a big settlement when she left. Good luck. I always liked the Knoxville ,Kingsport area.
