What do you plan to photograph most of the time? Action/sports, portraits, street photography? You'll probably end up with most of your money invested in lenses, since you'll want to put the best glass on the camera as possible. If you're looking to save money, I would suggest a T1i or T3 to start (body only), and get a good lens or two.

Here is a good article: http://photofocus.com/2009/12/29/what-camera-should-i-buy-the-ultimate-answer/

And, if you're new to photography, you'll find some good advise with [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Exposure-Photographs-Digital-Updated/dp/0817463003"]Amazon.com: Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera (Updated Edition) (9780817463007): Bryan Peterson: Books@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51lSKXKxUHL.@@AMEPARAM@@51lSKXKxUHL[/ame]

visit KenRockwells site if you want biased opinion. By no way is he a great resource unless you really want to hear him claiming his greatness. JMO...

For purchasing, buy from Bhphoto.com, they'll have a good price, no tax and no shipping depending on the day. I've bought 15K worth of gear from them over the past few years. They stand behind what they sell.

A good objective based resource is: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/index.shtml
