Is it Nicaraguan
Savinelli Inc. has introduced the Savinelli Special Selection 2005 brand. Made by the Oliva family in Estelí, Nicaragua, the cigar is crafted from Habano-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador in 2005, along with Nicaraguan binder and filler tobacco.
"We don't do it every year," said Ruben Ysidron, chief operating officer of Savinelli, which is based in Morrisville, North Carolina. "If we find a particular year where the wrapper looks good, well do a special selection."
The new line comes in three sizes: Toro, 6 inches by 52 ring; Robusto, 5 1/2 by 50; and Torpedo, 6 1/2 by 54. They retail for $6.75, $6.50 and $7, respectively. The Special Selection 2005 was introduced at this years Retail Tobacco Dealers of America trade show, and is on retail shelves now.
