  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Xikar was my first cutter, and now that I have a Palio, I know they will be my last one. The Xikar was usable, but always left a ridge on the cuts. The Palio is a lot easier to aim, as mentioned above, and get exactly the cut you want. It also acts as a great cigar rest. Hand a newbie a Xikar and you have to explain to them how to use it. Hand them a Palio and they just go straight to thanking you for how awesome the cut is. The Xikar multi tool, is fun, but I only really tend to use it on torpedos as it feels awkward cutting a large ring gauge. I really enjoyed the Xikar V cutter for about 8 months, then it started to rip my cigars instead of cutting them.

The Palio and Xikar MTX stay in the RV with me.
The Cuban Crafters perfect cut (Drew Estates edition) is in the truck for quick cuts while driving
The Xikar tear drop is lost somewhere at the house.

also, if anyone has been looking at the "cigar shuriken", it is HORRIBLE, IMHO. give it up to whoever for trying to innovate, but for me it just sucked the flavor out of the smoke. unfortunately, because of how hogh up it scored the leaf, couldn't even really go back on it with a straight cut.

If you need a budget cutter get a Xikar X8. Great cutter for $25 or less. I have had one of these for quite some
time and it was used a lot until I got my Xi3.

Wouldn't you like to know?
I also have a lot of cutters and while I am not a huge fan of the Standard Xikar as I don't like the operation they are a well made and well stood behind cutter. Palio is awesome but the new Xikar Palio wannabes are pretty good as well. I now carry a siglo seki cutter as for some reason I am fascinated with a single blade cutter that works. I also have a xikar punch on my key chain as an emergency backup. Some times will break out a good pair of scissor cutters as well.

I'd go with a Palio as well, but if you don't want to spend quite that much, I'd second the Xikar X8. It's a fantastic cut, & can be found for almost half as much as the Palio.

I still say Palio though. :tonguerol

I got the message, lol. Got a Palio for 35 bucks shipped. The ones on CB will probably hit the quickbuy price anyway.

Hopefully it will cut awesomely enough as to where getting a punch will be a low priority.

I am a big fan of my Palio but when I forget it in a jacket pocket I use a tatuaje buzz cutter that works nicely and trims evenly

plus one for the cuban crafters, 10 on amazon and its perfect every time.
I might be the odd one out as my first cutter was the Cuban Crafter's and it didn't cut to my expectations(more dull than it should be after 8 months) so I got a Palio and it changed my world.
