I saw this cutter at the show and it was called "Shuriken" like the ninja stars. As you push it down it cuts 6 or 7 slits and it is designed to give you a cooler smoke. Instead of all the smoke and flavors hitting the tongue when you draw, it is supposed to dissipate the flavors but I didn't really care for it. Mark loved it tho and I think he brought a sample home so maybe I need to try it again.
Quick tip: once you slice the cap with these things, DO NOT use a regular cutter to improve the draw. They cap will open up like a flower. Yes... first hand experience, lol.

Eh...can't see how tar build up would not be an issue with this? Was there something wrong with just having the option of a guillotine, v-cut, or punch? :dunno:

A for effort I suppose, just strikes me as trendy. I don't think I need another way to cut my smokes though. I had a Palio until it went missing from my house...I think one of the guys that delivered my new stove pocketed it. Now I just use a punch or whatever cheap double guilotine cutter is closest.
I have a palio and do not think there is a need to re invent the wheel. also sometimes use a punch. also found that a spent shell from a .380 acp or a .22lr works great for a punch
I have seen people be REALLY into this cutter and others, myself included, not like it at all. Different strokes for different folks for sure. I think it is a neat idea I just didn't like the draw it made. It was loose like a normal guillotine, not any tougher of a draw, I just didn't like it for some reason.
I have 10 palios, and they work just fine. Why would I buy something new? I can't believe someone would try to make something new in this market! how dare they!

A buddy got one with his last CI order. The draw was a bit tight, not sure if that was due to the cut or the construction. Biting a few times opened up the slits and improved the draw. I didn't experience any issues with tar build up. The only downsides I see are it's size (it'd be difficult to carry in a pocket) and inability to handle a torpedo.

This would be my thought exactly. However it wont stop them from making a shitload of money on a shotty product.
I would not want to have to be biting down on a cigar just to get a better draw from it, and the slits looked like they went way to far down the side of the cigar meaning you would have to put more of it in your mouth.
With all the talk of tar build up and having to bite down to get a good draw there is no wonder they didn't add a cigar being smoked to the YouTube videos, would like to see what the head looks like with 2/3 of the cigar smoked.
