Welcome, if you're comfortable with your local tobacco shop I'd ask them for advice. A good tobacconist can be a great asset for a new cigar smoker. Let us know where you live and a local member can probably recommend a good shop for you. Once you get things narrowed down a bit we can be of more help. Do you prefer milder cigars or are you interested in full bodied, shake your knees type cigars?

Many e-publications will list cigars suggested for the new cigar smoker based on the type of coffee or food you like

Welcome from South Ms!

Check with the folks at your shop, check the smoke of the day thread, and check out the reviews for some of the stuff that interests you. Take note of the country and wrapper to start getting a handle on your likes/dislikes.. And enjoy the ride!

Welcome from STL! I say check the threads to see what people are smoking around here, then smoke everything anyway - there's a million different sticks out there and the only way to know whether they're worthwhile or not is to try them. Bonus if you score some deals on the auction sites - they're a great way to try new things on the cheap!
