I've recently begun to consider switching to a wineador, and have been pricing models. Other than price, is there a difference between the 280 and 281? All I can tell from the specs is less than an inch difference in a couple of dimensions. All other specifications are identical. Which would be better, or does it not matter either way? Thanks for any and all input.

I could be wrong but I think I remember reading that one(281?) has more closely spaced slots for shelves/drawers than the other.
Thats what it is... if you get on their website and click on the images of the coolers with the doors open and zoom in you will see the 281 has more slots.

Thanks guys. Does the equate to more storage capacity, or just more limited configuration possibilities?

I have a 281 and like the extra slots. It allows you options to put in single height drawers which some folks like. The standard drawers take up 1 slot in the 280 or 2 slots in the 281. Can replace with 2 single drawers in 281 - not an option in 280 without wasting space. The standard drawers allow you to stack 3-4 cigars high, which can create alot of digging for sticks if you mix lots of singles. The single drawers stack 1-2 high, 2 of smaller sizes like corona but only 1 of larger. So it's a little nicer look for special smokes that you don't want to have to dig thru. So it doesn't increase storage space, but give more options with the drawer / shelf combinations. I also think the 281 is a hair larger inside - but maybe an inch or 2.
Hope that makes sense and helps.
I recently bought a scratch and dent 281 (second one) at Air n Water. Have a fellow brother who was waiting for them to get (new) 280's back in stock. Not sure if they have them again or not.

Tony pretty much nailed it. The only other thing is you're paying for a stainless steel door on the 281, the 280 is plastic. Internals are essentially the same, but dimensionally different enough that the drawers are not interchangeable between the two. And then double the drawer slide positions, which only come in to play if you are doing multiple shelves or single-depth drawers. If you do six double-depth drawers, full top to bottom, then it really comes down to cosmetics.

Awesome, guys. Really appreciate the info. Air n Water is where I was looking. The 281 was out of stock, but they do have the 280 currently.
