N.H. Bans Smoking In Bars And Restaurants
(AP) CONCORD, N.H. Ninety days from today, it will be illegal to smoke in New Hampshire bars and restaurants.
Governor John Lynch signed the smoking ban into law this morning, making New Hampshire the final New England state to have such a ban. It takes effect in 90 days.
Supporters say the ban is needed to protect workers and customers from second-hand smoke.
Opponents maintain the state should educate the public about the dangers of smoking and second-hand smoke instead of banning smoking. They also say restaurant and bar owners -- not the state -- should decide when or if to ban smoking.
