  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Is there anyplace in the US left where you can smoke without be tarred, feathered, crucified and then burned at the stake?

I'm planning a trip to the US later this year and I'd love to plan at least a couple of days someplace that isn't a member of the anti-smoking fascist regime.

Do you mean restaurants and the like? I know the states of Pennsylvania and Florida still allow smoking in at least smoke shops. I haven't live in PA for almost six years and I just left FL. You can hit up the smoke shops and still light up in both states. Hell in PA I think there are still smoking sections in restaurants! As far as I know the whole state of Wisconsin is good to go. Don't quote me on that, ask the cheese heads here.

On a side note the country of Turkey is going anti smoking! These people are like goddamn chimneys. No smoking in public places or public transportation. By July next year there will be no smoking in restaurants and the like. Weird........

Try Virginia. I believe yo can still smoke in restaurants there. now cigars may be a different story. I'll admit they are a bit more than just a cigarette in the restaurant atmosphere. If your in a club or a bar, the no problem id' assume.

In Michigan, i was in several bars that allowed cigar smoking.

Dont' go to Ohio. We're anti-everything here. No smoking period. They're getting close to outlawing it in your own car...using the excuse that it causes accidents.

We do have one bar in my town that has been flying under the radar and still allows smoking. in fact, i dont' think you can get in unless you are smoking. You open the door and the smoke rolls out. And they have a mechanical bull to boot. The only minor downfall is that you also have to where a white tank top, still have a mullett and have a heart and woman's name tatooed on your outer bicep.

Yep things are still okay for the present time here in PA, you can smoke in smoke shops, the casinos, and allot of bars and resturants. Don't know if it wil last but we have our fingers, toes and anything else crossed. Last time I was in Wisconsin you could still smoke in resturants, etc. but that was two years ago. New Jersey ban went into effect last year? just passed a bill banning smoking in the casinos. They where exempt prior to this (Another good reason for PA not to pass a smoking ban)

Depends on what you mean by "no bans." E.g., in New Orleans, there is a state-wide ban on smoking in restaurants, but you can still smoke in bars and tobacco shops. That, to me, is the equivalent of not having a ban, since bars and cigar stores are the only places I would normally smoke, anyway.

BTW, remember that there are also local ordinances that come into play. E.g., the comments about smoking in PA do NOT apply in Philadelphia, where you can smoke only in tobacco shops, a handful of bars that have qualified for an exemption based on things like revenues from food & tobacco sales, and private clubs.

The OC
CA is only in cigar shops or clubs. Everywhere is outside smoking, but we have good weather, so outside is fine.

Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina all allow smoking indoors. Georgia allows smoking in cigar shops, and some bars. (at least no one complains). In Miami, you can smoke in smoke shops and plenty of places to smoke outside at bars and restaurants.

There's no statewide smoking ban in Wisconsin (yet), but there are lots of citywide bans. In Madison, smoking is banned in all restaurants and bars, but there is a exemption (cigars and pipes only) for one downtown cigar bar.

Washington state is out, they've banned smoking in all buildings, including cigar bars, banned it in public places, working on in the car, and are even proposing that one shouldn't be able to smoke in you own house.

Indiana is a hot bed for Anti smoking politics but it's not heavily enforced by police since most of the cops I know smoke themselves at least in Fort Wayne. Pretty much the only place you can smoke legally is at your home, car,or smoke shops but I do smoke all the time at work right outside since pretty much no one gives a hoot about the law except the whining people who pushed for the ban and even now the long time city council incumbent who advocated the local ban was voted out!

Yup luckly Virginia still has the legislation right when it comes to smoking. Some restaurants may not let you in bigger cities, but it can't hurt to try :smokingbo

Hi, if you stop in NJ we have a cigar club. We never close 24/7 and you can BYOB, smoke cigars, plays cards, darts, dominoes, shoot pool, make some new friends, watch a game on our large flat screen TVs, relax in our lounge, and order food too! You can bring as many friends as you like.

Having lived outside the Lehigh Valley all my life it was news to me that there was a steakhouse with a cigar lounge too. I did a quick Google search and it brought up "Federal Grill & Cigar Bar" located 536 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA. I don't know if that's the place, but its news to me, heck I guess its true you never know what you'll find in your own back yard.

So much for FREEDOM! Do you guys have to ask for permission to go to the restroom?
