  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Nub anyone?

That's a very interesting concept. However, I would disagree with the idea that you can hit that "sweet spot" for the whole cigar simply by making it shorter. The concept of the sweet spot has to do with a number of things and the tobacco that proceeds the "sweet spot" is a factor.

And as to the pricing, I wouldn't hold out a whole lot of hope, pay attention to this part of the "theory":

"Further adding to this complex theory, the ring gauges range from 56-66. The result is a range of smokes that have the same amount of tobacco as any Churchill or even Presidente. Unbelievably, they also smoke as long."

Has anyone had a Nub yet? http://www.nubcigar.com/index.php Sounds like a bit of a gimmick, but hey, if they are good, who cares. I wonder since they are a shorter cigar if the price is comensurate with the size as compared to other similar 'gars.
I'm already a bit annoyed by Nub's attempts at viral marketing. They've been running contests on other boards to get people to change their avatar and signature to promote Nubs, and there seem to be a lot of folks raving about what a genius Sam Leccia is, even though they haven't even tried a Nub!

I don't care for extremely large RG cigars, but I'd try a Nub if it were cheap enough. This isn't a revolutionary breakthrough for cigars, though, since Nubs aren't the first short and fat cigars ever made. The whole thing is just too gimmicky for me. In fact, nobody even seems to be talking about the tobacco blends in Nubs, just the size!

My prediction: in about 2 years, C-Bid will be helping liquidate the remaining stock of the defunct Nub Cigar Company.

A cigars "sweet spot" is created while smoking not rolled in to the damn thing. MORONS! (them not you guys)
My thoughts exactly. Gotta believe that sweet spot is at least partially created by the accumulation of nicotine and "smoke reisidue" if you will, as you smoke it down.

Seems to me this guy is jumping on the Cigar Renaissance that seems to be happening these days. Only time will tell.

On the other hand if they turn out to be a good cigar, the more the merrier.:applause:

That's the one good thing about this: another sign of a cigar boom. Good and bad I guess...just hope the quality doesn't dive.

From what I've read over the years (I've never met him myself) Sam seems to be a fantastic salesman that people just love dealing with. He's got a fantastic reputation.

The marketing may be gimmicky, but so is a LOT of stuff in the premium cigar market.

I'm willing to try the cigars; I've been looking forward to them for a while now. As soon as they hit my b&m, I'll be buying some.
