  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So the wife and I head to the local booze mart and ask about George Stagg 09 Bourbon...1 bottle left...$59. The wife looks at me like I have 2 heads as I already have 1 bottle of Hacienda Tequila, 1 bottle of Benedictine, she threw in some wine, and a big azz bottle of Makers in the cart...so I tell the guy I must pass (I know I will regret it). Anyways he asks why I am buying the makers when I can 2 bottles of Old Weller from 2 different casks...tells me how much better it is than the floor cleaner I am about to buy (still like it). So I get home and pop the top on cask #30...very aromatic, I can smell oak and caramel notes abound...I go straight up no ice/no splash...a bit thin but very flavorful! What a great affordable whiskey! Have any of you folks had this?

I usually just drink plain ol' W.L. Weller.

How different is the Old Weller from this? they're both fairly cheap, but is the Old Weller worth the few extra bucks?

I love it for the price. I can't always justify grabbing a $30 bottle of 1792 or Woodford's when I go to the store. This stuff is $13 a fifth around me, and while not as complex as others, it is very smooth and pairs GREAT with cigars.
