  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

opinions, suggestions...

i have my one and only daughter getting married may 16. she's held off for 29 years so this will be for keeps, i believe.
thinking i need a special cigar for this occasion. i have the usual suspects, opus, tats, etc. but i'm thinking i need one that is that truly one timer.
and before moro tells me to move this to the iso thread, i can't be iso yet as i don't know what i'm iso yet!!!!! ponder for a while and get back to me. thanks.

BBMF?

Just so you can go around all night long answering "oh this? it is called a Big Bad Mother F**ker" to guests....

But then, I have a strange sense of humor :)

I would think a mint cigar such as an 80's ish Davidoff cuban, or a cuban Dunhill. Being rare and well aged. Sitting back drinking a fine aged scotch or irish wiskey while smoking one of those would be the best way to celebrate your daughters wedding. But just my 2 cents.

Congratulations! Personally, I would not look for a rare or unusual cigar. Instead, I would ask myself, "what cigar do I light up, smoke, and say to myself, 'Damn, that is one great cigar?'" Then i would pick that one. For me, lately, that's been the now discontinued Edge Sumatra Torpedo. But hey, that's just me.

Whatever you pick, have a few handy, just in case the first one is disappointing.

Sometimes it's the occasion that 'makes' the cigar.
Whatever stick you choose...

Congratulations ~ I wish you & yours happiness, health & success!

My thoughts exactly. Knowing you it will be a primo cigar anyway. I believe this will be one those rare "savor" moments and it will be outstanding regardless.

And congrats!

Congratulations to you and your daughter. I say a vintage cc might do the trick. As I really don't know vintage cc, I really don't have a specific one in mind. Best of luck.

Hmmm. how about a Pre-Embargo Vuelta Abajo Toro. Seriously though maybe a Forbidden Black Label will do the trick.

Congrats for the wedding, I'm sure it will be memorable no matter what you smoke. As far as the smoke goes? That's a though one. Wish I had something worthy of the occasion to send you.

Smoke what you love...a stick you only have once and a while during the party. Hopefully ur son inlaw also enjoys a good stick and you guys can share one. My father in law did this and it was a great reflection moment that I would not trade for the world! And then have a super special super prem after the night is over! It is a very long very fast day and that night cap will really put a great end to a special day! Just my .02;)
Congratulations! It is going to be an awesome event! Nick

Bob... Dude that's awesome news bro, congrats to you old man and to your daughter! I would smoke an opus A because as far as I'm concerned that is just pure celebration type of stick. Not only is it large and could possibly take you up to 2 1/2 hrs but it just looks cool with your drink in one hand you sitting and relaxing with one of the finest cigars rolled today. Enjoy you will not be disappointed.

This is a really tough one. I understand the desire to do a "once in a lifetime" cigar for your little girl's wedding; my only daughter is about to start her first year of law school. I know how special that father/daughter relationship is.

That having been said, I'm not sure that I'd want a "once in a lifetime" type cigar for that occasion. I would want to go to something that is rare, but not so rare that I couldn't have one from time to time when I was missing my pup. For me, I have two in the humidor right now that I'm saving for the "big day". One is a Cohiba Siglo VI (imagine that), and the other is a Padron Anny 80th. I also have a bottle of Crown Royal that my dad gave me years ago for the same purpose; the tax stamp says 1969.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll make a great pick. I also bet you'll get a half dozen or so "bombs" within the next 2 weeks with suggestions enclosed. Have a great time; best wishes to all; and fill me in on your secret if you're able to get her down the aisle without crying like a baby. :sadcry:

Congratulations! When the ceremony is over, and you have a chance to relax, whatever you light up will be special. Savor the moment.

... fill me in on your secret if you're able to get her down the aisle without crying like a baby.
Now there is the real question. Having married off two of my 3 girls, I thought that all I needed to do was to remember how much the wedding was costing me to keep a straight face while taking my little girl on our last trip together. Wasn't enough man.....
