  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I tired my first Opus on new years. Wade sold it to me. I thought the flavor and the smell was awesome. I believe it was an Opus X A, can't remember for sure. The burn didn't really impress me. it was uneven at times, but I was frequently drawing from it so it could be my fault. It wasn't as intense as I was expecting. The thing that stood out the most though was the smell. It just smelled awesome as it burned. It was a great cigar, but not the best thing I've had. Probably give it an 8.5/10

Ive had some really good ones and one really bad one. Not the Holy Grail of smokes in my opinion. If you are on a quest for the Grail, get your hands on a Partagas Lusitanias, HDMDC or Punch Double Corona. And may peace be with you...

The A is probably the mildest of the entire Opus X line.

From mildest to strongest would go something like this -

A
Double Corona
Reserva D'Chateau
Perfecxion No.2
Fuente Fuente
Robusto
Super Belicoso
Perfecxion X
Petit Lancero
No.4
Perfecxion No.5
xXx ("Power Ranger")

so in comparison to something like a Litto Gomez Diez Chisel Puro (2007), how would the xXx be in strength? I enjoy strong cigars.

Every time I think I found the best cigar, I find a better one. I meet up with someone like Ken or Kevin and smoke a cigar so incredible I know I have found nirvana. Then they hand me a different one and I am off on a new cloud. I pulled an old, old opus out of my humi over Christmas and could not believe how great it was.

The answer to try more cigars. They are out there. Those beauties dreams are made of. Don't be close minded. It may be an Opus or an Hoyo or an Upman. They are out here. Go find em.

I've only had a couple of Opus X so far, and they probably didn't have much age, but it's not the "holy grail" cigar for me either. They're very good, and worth their suggested price, but there's a lot of hype surrounding them as well.

OPUSX … Not all are made alike.

I love and hate them... Whenever I get a good one it's well worth the money. I particularly enjoy their sun grown flavors which explode with creamy sweet spice power like no other cigar. When I get a bad or not so good one it's very frustrating...

Consistency is their major flaw IMO. I could probably minimize it by letting it age but that’s never going to happen with me. If I have it it’s getting smoked period.

I have only about a dozen or so Opus. I have smoke a variety of them. I like them but won't spend much money on them. If I had to choose Opus X or a Padron Aniv. Series. I would go with padron. But I absolutly love the smell of an Opus Being smoked.

I have to say I don't come across much for peppery or spicey, but more citrusy. But that is me.

My advice, If you can buy a couple for a decent price, or trade for a couple. Do so to try them. It's worth it.

I've smoked one Opus X (I believe and No. 5) and I found it to be very good with a lot of strength. It was bought at MSRP, so it didn't seem like that big of a deal. For the price that it was purchased, it was probably one of the best buys out there. For the $20+ price tag at 99% of online retailers, it's not worth it to me.
