  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This is a bit of a strange question, so I will give a bit of background. I have potentially stumbled upon the opportunity to purchase what appears to be a very nice collection, and humidor. The problem (and there's always a problem isn't there), is that it is somewhat outside what I could reasonably spend. One of the items in the collection is the Opus x22 2004 set; and I'm thinking that I may be able to purchase the collection if I could get anywhere near what the seller is saying the Opus set is valued at.

So long story short (probably too late for that now), is "what could I reasonably expect to sell that set for, and would people buy it. Additionally, would it be something that would (In your opinion) take a long time to sell.

I'm not sure if it's taboo to discuss prices, sorry if this crosses a line there.

Shhhh! :halfgrinw

Honestly, it's outside of my price range. Even if I could get 2/3 what the seller lists those Opus at, I'd still probably have to sell a bodypart to afford the rest....of course I'm just sort of sitting here drawing off expendable anatomy with a marker at the moment, so who knows.

Sorry, didn't mean to give away your source.

As far as the collection goes, some of the Brothers here collect rare and hard-to-find vitolas like the ones listed there. You might be able to find someone who will split the collection with you.

I think the Opus 22's are selling for about $750, but if I were going to buy an Opus 22 box, I would buy on of the newer releases or wait till next year. The reason for this is that the newer boxes have more unique cigars in them.

I was kidding, if someone here picked it up, it would save me from sleeping out on the lawn for a week

And I would only charge them a couple GoF as a finders fee. :innocent:

The opus 22 sets sell for $750 and I would think with 4yr of age on them no more than $850-$900... Good luck hope you can hold onto it those would be some nice smokes in about 6 more years!

Opus fetches bug bucks, I just watched a guy buy two chili peppers for over $70 bucks each on cigarbid.com.

Ebay gets good cash for their listings as well, especialy for rare sizes.

But if your just looking to get your money out, you might want to try a tenative sale here. List your smokes and prices, and see how many people will commit to a portion of the box tenative on you making the purchase. I'd be intrested in the BBMF, Lancero and maybe a couple others.

Hah, it's been posted about over at Clubstogie. So whadda ya think, any other MN residents want to go in together and split up the collection? Honestly the big draw for me was the Humidor, but the sticks are nice too. :inlove:

Of course if someone has the cash laying about, that's just as well, I'd rather see a BOTL get it then not.

It looks like Lorglath @ Clubstogie already spoke to the guy, and is going to go look at it this afternoon, then report back later today. I'm not sure if he was the buyer that MNelson was referring to, or not. It appears that some group thing may be happening, but I'm still fuzzy on the details currently.
