  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

    Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I started a post like this one some time ago, not sure if it was on here but the jist is since an Opus has such a unique and consistant smoke is there anything out there that rivals its taste, burn, consistancy, etc. While I realize that only a Fuente is truly a Fuente and it has no equal ( IMHO ) I smoked a Padilla Sig. Robusto and thought, Wow! This stick draws like an Opus, has the spice like an Opus, has a considerable amount of smoke but yet, has a cost of $11 to $13.50 a stick but at least you can get it easier than the Opus. I did find a deal on CI for a 5 pak for $29 and jumped all over it with 3 orders (even though it was on backorder for a week)

We all have different tastes and to me the Padilla comes closer than what is mentioned on here but at the end of the day whatever you think comes closest to an Opus let's hope that it costs substantially less.

I kinda think la aurora 100 anos is in the same ballpark as opus. Not the same falvor for sure, but the uniqueness and complexity is prevalent in each. The Auroras, again, are a different flavor, but it's a flavor you can only find in La auroras, just like the Opus flavor is a flavor you can only get in an Opus.

I will agree with whoever said the ESGs are close. I would imagine the DC Max Stanfords i similar too. I may hav to light that sumbitch up this weekend.

Don't get me wrong, I smoke plenty of brands of cigars, but if you have not had an Opus, you are missing out!

He's not the only one. I've never been able to find opus around here. I only know one shop that gets them in from time to time but they put them back for their members.

This is the same place that has two jars of Tat blacks and when I inquired about the price of one of them they said they didn't even know if they where going to sell them.
