So I quit my job recently. A job that was cushy and easy while at the same time gave me more stress that I've ever had in my life. With my resume in hand and a few friends to call on tap, I set out into the world of the job hunt. I was convinced I already had a job lined up, but so far I can't seem to contact the guy who told me I had the job. Now with my ego bruised slightly and my bar of concern raised I dust off the grit and prepare to job hunt once again. Wish me luck everyone

Good luck, man. Tough job market out there. I'm sure you'll find something if you keep at it & don't take no for an answer.

good luck to you, but why would you quit your job without another formal offer in your hand in this economy? I am not trying to cast stones and I truly feel for you. However for others this serves as a great example for others to learn from, so thank you for sharing.

I am sure you will bounce out of this.

I did the exact same thing back in September, sometimes preserving your own mental health and sanity is more important in the long run.

Whether you were trying to or not your stone was cast TG and there's no getting it back.

I feel your pain MulkDawg and I'm sure we both will be better off when all is said and done!

The thing was is when I decided upon this, besides saving my sanity, my contact told me that I was 100% in getting the job. So I go apply and now all the sudden I can't get ahold of him or anyone in charge there. But I do see your point in that I should have made truly sure. But I have applied everywhere and I have two interviews this week so here is to hoping. Thanks for the responses so far guys.

Good luck man, and I think all that the other guy was saying is that this is a cautionary tale to anyone reading this, I don't think he was trying to criticize you.

Like my dad said to me growing up, "Don't let go of one branch until you have hold on another." You did your diligence and were comfortable in your decision to move forward and I, for one, applaud your risky move. If it had worked out, it would have been awesome. People nowadays are too afraid to jump in with both feet, even when there is negligible risk. It's only then that you find out who you really are and what you are capable of.

Personally, in this market, I wouldn't make a move like that though until I had a firm start date in hand, but my job set is way more specific and a lot harder to find than a lot of others.

Bottom line is that I applaud your risk taking, I'm sorry it didn't work out, good luck in finding something soon, and if you post up what it is that you do, I'm sure more than one of us will be on the lookout for you.

Hmmm, casinos, not too many of them in GA unless you count that one ship who ran to international waters to gamble at night.

Have you tried Cherokee, NC? I don't know if you're willing to relocate, but those casinos up there seem to be doing pretty well based on the billboards around here.

So hopefully my search is done. Im not gonna put all my eggs in one basket because I know how that can turn out, but I just got a call to do a phone interview with Argosy Casino and Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri. Please keep your fingers crossed and hope I get it. It will mean relocation but what the heck, you only live once right.

Congrats, man. When life closes doors for you, open a window, or do like SWAT does and rip out the whole wall and just walk through.

Kyle, as much as it would pain me to see a friend of mine for 17 years move to another state. I hope you get the job. I hope it is what you were wanting whenever you started working for those bastards before. I agree with you, you only live once, and we are young enough to make "mistakes" and "risks" and recover from it. I am pulling for you on this one. Who knows, maybe it will be so good you need a buddrow to move up there with. Plus, I could always see if there is a Quad Graphics plant! Anyways, you will be moving to a place that has one of the best shops in the Midwest IMO. Outlaw South cigar store is the shit. There is a bunch of great guys on here that frequent that store too.

Nate
