  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Knightdale Seafood and BBQ Resturant here where I live was having an "All-You-Can-Eat Raw Oyster Contest" tonight....what the heck I entered.

You had ten (10) minutes to eat as many raw oysters as you could....

1st Prize - Trophy, Plaque w/picture on the wall, $100.00 gift certificate and two tickets to see Toby Keith and Trace Adkins

2nd Prize - Trophy, Miller Light hat and t-shirt

3rd Prize - Trophy, Miller Lite hat and t-shirt

The 1st prize winner ate 219 raw oysters in 10 minutes, 2nd prize winner ate 168 raw oysters in 10 minutes and 3rd prize winner (Me) ate 161 raw oysters in ten minutes.

I thought I could average 20 a minute but was only able to pull off 16.1 a minute.

3rd prize was a damn nice feeling....don't think I'll ever do it again though!

Man as much as I'd love to go see Trace I couldn't get a single one past my lips. Now clams on the halfshell, that's a whole different game.

Wouldn't you like to know?
I ate alot of oysters in Cuba but they do it slightly different. They pre-shell them and bring the to you in a jar or shot glass. A little tomato juice and tobascco and down they go. A normal sitting will be 20 to 30 per person

Not sure if that still holds true or not?

I'm use to eating silver dollar size oysters from Cheasapeake Bay, I asked the owner where these came from last night and he said they had them flown in from Texas....that explains why must of them were the size of "chicken breasts!"

That was one of the rules, no slurping off the shells....we had to use a fork or fingers....I was shoveling them in with both hands, the fork was way to slow!
