Padilla News?

My local shop tries to tell me Padilla is going out of business. So, after I stop laughing she claims that he is going to do online only. I have the feeling if I laughed at her again that I would have got an entirely different story. Anyhoo, all the Padilla's were on clearance and almost gone.

Is there really some Padilla news?

I was actually at the Padilla lounge in Little Havana a couple weeks ago talking to Ernesto and he was very clear that things were going well and he very much supports B&M's

Rumors only. He is going strong and moved forward since Pepin made his stuff. He was always involved in the blends though, so his cigars should not change much. Just different rollers.

For what it is worth, I had one of the 1932 that he made since leaving Pepin and it was still great

I agree.... I went to a B&M once and he started to tell me how Tats where not good and that Pete was not a true cigar fan or maker, :grinFU: I think someone can't get them in and the tinderbox about 2 minutes away has quite a bit! I haven't walked back in that B&M again!

From what I know Ernesto is doing well and working on new things.

As for me, I love cigars and work closely with Pepin and Jaime to make cigars that I want from my concept of a good cigar. Pepin, Jaime and their wonderful employees MAKE the cigar. I am the designer......

I think it would take something catastrophic to cause Padilla to just go out of business like that.

As for the shop talking bad about Tatuaje....Pete knows what he's doing... Tats are liked by the people...
If Tatuaje was a crappy cigar, do you think it would sell like it does?

As for Padilla, I was at their shop a few weeks ago during my [ame="http://www.botl.org/community/forums/showpost.php?p=482144&postcount=6"]MIA[/ame] period... There were many people in the store and after speaking with the young lady, (that seemed to know more about tabacco and cigars than many I know...very sexy) I was led to believe that Padilla was still cracking... I know that 1 visit cant predict the future, but there was several visitors buying and smoking during my visit... Who knows!!!

That place is sweet, isn't it? Between it and the remodel of El Credito across the street, I hope that starts a re-birth of the area...I wish they would clean the whole area up and get moving in the direction of the Gables or something...

Shortly after that we heard that was just a rumor and in fact denied by Ernesto himself. I guess CI was helping him with some inventory during a warehouse move of some sort.

So, if there truly is nothing going on my local shop is going to feel stupid for dropping Padilla smokes based on rumors. :bigeyes:
