Padron 80th Maddy

I finally had a chance to smoke one of these thanks to a friend at my B&M. I have always enjoyed the 1964 Padrons, actually I love the hell out of them. But I smoked this cigar and I felt a little let down. maybe I thought to much of it going into smoking it.

This cigar had a great draw, smoked perfect. Razor sharp burn and smoke smooth all the way through. Good cigar, but come on really worth 30 dollars?

I commented several time how it was kind of a bland smoke, not a lot of depth, and just wasn't really impressed through out the whole cigar. But that's my 2 cents.

I have one that I hope to smoke in 2 months when I get my Ph.D. acceptance letter. Don't say that about my prize cigar.

The 80th is definitely a fantastic smoke, but no, it's not vastly different than the 1926's or 1964's - somewhere in between, IMO. It's a real cool size/shape & a guaranteed good stick. I can see someone having a bit of dissapointment if you're expecting the holy grail of cigars though.

Regular 1964's do the trick for me usually. 1926 are extra nice. The 80th, while not significantly better, is still a good stick to mark an extra special occasion with.

'Is it worth $30?' is besides the point.

(While offering great deals on everything else) Famous sells BTL's for $35, CI sells Opus #5's for $25. People buy them & not because they are worth it.

Naw- 26's are maybe $5 more on average... the 40th is $25, 80th - $30.

I haven't had the 80th, but after smoking the 40th I asked myself if it was worth the 25 bucks. Is a really great steak worth 50 bucks? It's all relative...but for the price I enjoy the 64's just fine.

I guess it is all relative. But I will just stick to my cheaper 1964's which I enjoy much more. What did you think of the overall cigar itself?

BTLs for $35? The shop by where I work had them last Tuesday for $17!

I love the Padron 64 maduros. I smoked a 40th maybe a year after they came out. Paid $30 at my local B&M. It was a great cigar but after smoking it I couldn't say for sure if I enjoyed it more than a 64 Imperial or Exclusivo. It left me wondering if it was worth the money. To try it once it think yes but I wouldn't spend $25 on it now because the 64s mads are great and I could have 2 of them for about the same price. I would like to try the 80th sometime to see if the experience is different from the 40th and if that cigar really stands out for me to believe it's worth the $30. So far yo just can't beat the PAMs IMO. Just my .02

The 26's are hands down one of my favorite cigars. The 40th and the 80th are not MUCH different than the standard 26's, but I love them all the same. I would probably go for the 26 #1 before the 80th simply for the time I can get out of it over the price point. Do not pass up trying the 80th, it is an experience.

PS- I do not care as much for the 64's. I simply don't think that they are as refined or complex as the 26's.
