Okay, first I want to say that this site is awesome. The brothers here are great and know their stuff. I just wanted to say thank you all and I look forward to spending more time here.
Alright now for my noobish question. Whats the difference between Padrons if any? I mean the whole number thing. Theres the 2000s, 3000, 4000, etc... any information would be appreciated. Just kinda curious thats all.

My understanding is that when it comes to Padrons, the sizes DO make a whole lot of difference even though they are the same blend. With some other cigars that's true as well, with others not as much.

Have you guys found that with Padrons, size really does matter? I mean, I'm guessing that a 3000 will be better than a Londres...is that true, or no?

Thanks!

more/less tobacco has an effect on the cigar, but usualy the core blend is the same. Filler (volado) gets added to a lot of N/C's to boost girth without changing too much of the core taste.

Thanks for that, I was actually wondering what "volado" meant after I saw Pete's interview from Nov. and he references it as if it were a bad thing, saying that he doesn't use it (or does like to use it, or something like that), and as such the different sizes of Tatuajes really are quite different.

Perhaps that's true with the Padron's as well, and why the larger sizes cost so much more...?

volado is just kind of a filler leaf without that much flavor. It helps keep a straight burn too. Seco is the one that has the most flavor and ligero is strentgh. If Pete rolls a cigar with little volado, he'll end up with a flavorsome cigar (which he has done time & time again)
Volado is very cheap and seco is also inexpensive depending on grade. Ligero isn't too expensive but you use it sparingly. The real money is spent on wrapper. That's why larger/longer cigars can cost more, but in reality it's almost not that much more when rolled in mass.

My favorite are the PAM 64's
In the regular line I like the 3000 better than the Londres . Just my .02

As far as size making a huge difference in the taste/flavor provile/body of Padrons, from my experience it doesn't amount to much of a change. My two favorite Padron brown labels are the Palma and the Churchill. I can't comment on the numbered sizes though, as I've never smoked one.

Padron 26 feature a 5 year aged wrapper. padron 64 feature a 4 year aged wrapper. The regular line is "divided" into two groups (sorta), the thousand line are basically bigger ring gauge toros and robustos (yes w/ the exception the 7000 is a torp). The rest of the line is made in smaller quantities and features more "traditional" sizes and shapes. To me, these cigars give you some of the best bang for the buck out there. The Ambassador is my favorite. Hope this helps.
