  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I was disappointed when i first got my Xikar multitool, but now it feels strange to use anything else. That said the palio will do a very clean cut in less than a second, while u need a bit more time to carefully cut your cigar to your liking with the MTX. But that's just a part of my cigar ritual nowadays.

Sounds like a win-win there.

However, your two choices between the Xikar multi and the Palio is comparing apples to oranges. Each has is features and benefits. There is a new Xikar on the market, however, called the X8 that is an apples to apples comparison. Cuts 64rg, two fingered cutter design, cigar rest, and a MSRP of 24.99.

I have a pic of the two side by side but dont know if its bad form to post it here since Im a rep for Xikar. What say you admin?
Now i'm curious!

Thinking about getting a palio myself, heard a lot of good things about this cutter.
Gotta get our toys to satisfy our addiction LoL. Good pick up.

Palio, hands down. Have three MTX's. Keep them on my key chains. Not fond of em but they work in a pinch. Have one Palio. Always a good clean cut.

I'm a HUGE Palio fan. I bought a Carbon Fiber unit awhile back. When cutting a cigar that (apparently) had a big stem inside, my Palio got a tiny little notch in it. It didn't affect the cutting ability, but it nagged on me. I exchanged a few messages with Marc Aub from Palio and he fixed it so I was able to work an exchange at a B&M that sold Palio. (Buckhead Cigar in the Atlanta area). I walked in with TimD and brought out my cutter...the owner, without hesitation, brought out a new one and exchanged it right then and there.

The new one I got from them isn't cutting as awesomely as it used to and I was thinking that it's just par for the course. Marc once again told me to SEND IT IN ASAP. It's on the way back to them, and I know a new one will be on its way. They prefer you never be without a cutter and exchange it at a local dealer, but I have none here in the great state of Eastern Washington.

I have NO complaints about their customer service.

That having been said, I also have NO complaints about Xikar customer service. I've sent in a Xikar cutter that I dropped and it broke into many individual pieces (spring lost forever). They sent me a new one no questions asked.

All of this to say that both companies have an AWESOME return/exchange warranty. I like the idea of a little multi-tool that I can put on my key ring. However, my day-to-day cutter that remains in my pocket is the Palio.

I have both and love both. I'm a KC guy (hometown of Xikar) so I'm partial to them. However, I really like my Palio, too.

Just depends on my mood for the day.

Congrats on your new Palio. Enjoy searching for the right time to buy your Xikar MXT.

thanks again everyone for your input. I just wanted to give an update - the Palio came in today. it feels great in my hand and makes a clean cut. got it from RonC's site and it came with a neat metal cigar stand. Now... time to look for that MTX. :stretchgr

No matter which one of those 2 you choose to use or how bad the cigar is, you'll never have a bad cut again! :smokingbo
