  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Palio or Xikar?

My Xikar dulled up in short order. Currently using a cheap throw away. Saving my nickles and dimes for a Palio!

First, wipe the cutting edges down with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol. There is probably a 90% chance that will fix it. Second, if that doesn't work, send it back to Xikar. Xikar gives a lifetime warranty and backs it up with admirable customer service. You'll get a brand new cutter in short order.

Of course, I'm the last guy to discourage you from getting a Palio. Get one and use the Xikar as a back-up.

Thanks! I will try the Q-tip thing. But I still want a Palio.

Palio for sure, i have a xikar that has had to be sent back three times because the damn spring keeps busting, have never had one problem with the Palio. Plus it is cheaper than the xikar.

I had a Xikar cutter and lighter...well I sent them to my father in hopes he will smoke a few more cigars than he currently does...And I ordered a Palio from ron in a combo deal he had!!!

I purchased a Xikar "Plunge" and I'm curious as to what butane you use? I have a huge can of vector, but I do believe it requires an adapter to fit the xikar is there a band that don't require this to fill the lighter?

I recently got my first Palio cutter in the mail a few days ago due in large part to the overwhelmingly positive feedback I've seen on this and other forums (not to mention podcasts). You can't beat the price for something that may well last you a lifetime if not decades.

I'm not 100% on this Crypto but i am pretty sure all brands use the same size stem and provide attachments to fit different lighters. My advice would be to stick with the Vector, that is what i use. You don't want to use anything that isn't at least triple refined and i believe Vector is refined 5 times. I use an im Corona lighter and it does not require the adapter but i would have no problem using one if needed.

Purchased a Palio a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with it. Sharp, easy and clean cuts.

Never used a Xikar so can't compare, but I think for the $ the Palio would be hard to beat.
