  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've got one of each, but always seem to find something else that I need to smoke. I'll get to them someday.

That's a great pic. You should enter that into the Wiggy contest.

I've been holding onto the one Angry Bill sent me for over a year now. I keep saying I'm going to smoke it, and then get skeered away. Maybe I'll burn it this summer when i have 2 hours.
When I met with Jesus Fuego one of the questions that was raised concerned aging cigars. He talked about CC's and how they are freshly rolled and need aging to complete the fermentation although some of the LE an attempt has been made to use aged tobacco. He was very open about how much he liked padrons. He said the Padrons had been made with aged tobacco and the annis should be smoked now as hey really wont gain much more in aging. A little research confirms that Jorge padron agrees with this. Smoke them now.

Same thing I heard from Pete, whom Jorge Padron had told him.

I think sometimes it's not as much a matter of aging as it is holding on to that cigar for the right moment. I know in the past I used to hold on to sticks for that "special occasion" thinking that I would enjoy the stick more. Now, hell, I'm not gonna burn an Opus Maduro or Don Carlos Anniversario out by the fire or in the shop while woodworking, but I find myself burning those "special" sticks more often as it seems that when you just hang on to it for a "special occasion" there's so much build up that the cigar better be downright outstanding or it seems like a letdown. I've put some cigars up on a pedestal and expected so much from them because I was saving them just to be let down because they didn't deliver the hype. Now I don't build the hype as much, just realize it's a very nice HTF and enjoy it when I feel I want it.

YES! The built up never compares to the cigar.

I absolutely agree Wade. My son and I saved our first Opus cigars forever and smoked them one Christmas eve. Great stick. Now I just put the into the rotation. I have a few CC's that just get better if I keep them but as for most cigars, I just smoke and enjoy them.

Yup. Jorge has said that they have a ton of Anni's that they can't sell because they are past their prime. Shelf life for them are about 10-15 years tops. Best smoked within a couple of years after buying them.

I agree 100%. I have tried aging 64sand 26s in the past and they usually go flat. These cigars are meant to be smoked now. The wrappers already have 4-5 years on them.
Oh, and the Maduro 80 Years are not very good. The Natural is an incredible cigar. Go fig.
