I have seen some UGLY Padrons!

I've seen patches on quite a few cigars throughout the years. Never bothered me much since they seemed to smoke just fine. I just figured maybe they just discovered some holes in the wrapper after they dried down and instead trashing the cigar, just patched the hole and boxed it up.
