  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I've been smoking for a couple of years. My stash is about 1/2 CC. I've always chuckled to myself seeing some of the prices the people are willing to pay for some of the high end smokes. Usually when people post about a Padron Anni or Opus, I say to myself, sure, comparing a $20 or more cigar with a $7 or $8 CC is kind of silly when price is factored in.

Tonight I fired up my first Pepin Cuban Classic in front of the chiminea (hey, it's 25F here in Jersey). Did it taste like a CC? Well, no. But it was frickin amazing. I loved it. Now I know what people are taking about with the first shot of spice when the cigar is first lite.

I had also picked up some Pepin Blue and ELO3. I can't wait to give them a shot also.

The downside is I'm not so sure I can fire up another Gurkha or RP.

I agree with Angry Bill, the don makes many great sticks. I've got dpg blues, blacks, jj's, and 5 vegas miami in my nc rotation

I've only had one Black, but it was darn tasty. I definately liked the Tatuaje Havana VI better, but the Black had a nice flavor and kick.

But for me, I don't exclusively like spicy cigars, so I have no problems firing up a Gurkha or RP :)

That being said, weskimad--I'm not sure what RP sticks you've had, but if you haven't already you might want to try an Olde World Reserve and a Decade, I think those flavor profiles would be more along the lines that you like compared so something like a Vintage.

The Blacks IMO are some of the best that DPG has to offer. The JJ's are really good but not nearly as full. I didn't care for the JJ Maddie a little to harsh and if you're into the CC's I don't think you'll like that harshness very much. I recently smoked the My Father series by the Dons kid Jaime and it was stellar as far as flavor goes I think you'll really enjoy it... I will add it was in the Robo format.
