Very beautiful car. I always liked the E46 M3s...there's all sorts of things you can do for torque that don't break the bank too much but if you want to get serious unfortunately dollars drive the car hobby. If you want to gain some serious performance that you can instantly notice get a higher flowing exhaust and intake (M3s love that) and then throw on some Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s...very expensive tires but have proven to be the best performing street tires for dry and wet conditions, and as most performance tires are tested with all models of the BMW 3 series range it would be well suited to your needs. I have worked in tires for a while and have worked directly with the Michelin tire group in the past so I have seen their testing it's amazing.
