The newspaper was to hold the shape of the bunch before it got the wrapper.

They had about 100 of them wrapped up like that. The cool cigars rolled up that night was a barberpole triple-cap w/ a pigtail (Pepin said it was a first...never done before) A maduro blue Lancero, baseball bat & pipe.

Pepin's daughter said that they are going to introduce the Lancero in all thier lines next year. I guess the blue label Lancero is Pepin's favorite cigar that he has in his lineup so far...looking forward to having it a regular release.

Yep, newspaper, they rolled the filler and binder earlier in the day, and then used the newspaper to kind of squeeze them and keep then almost pressed in a way. It also held in moisture till the wrapper was put on.
