  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Postage Due?

Not sure where this should go, but due to the contents I figured I'd start here.
Looks like the wife was actually listening when I was talking about all the fancy pipes I see you fellas post. I intercepted a flat-rate bubbled envelope from the mail box today. I have a feeling I know what's inside, to some extent anyway. It also has a postage due stamp and envelope asking for a whopping buck-0-five (OK, that's a minuscule amount and I already have my friends George Washington and Thomas Jefferson ready to go).
I'm including the name of the company strictly because I have seen a few of these pipes here and I am assuming they were packaged the same way. This should not be considered a negative light on them. I am certain I will soon be enjoying a Bones pipe from Morgan pipes.
Has anyone else had postage due if yours also came in one of the bubble packs? Just curious and not at all upset at Morgan Pipes, and if the carrier is trying to skim a little coin from an unsuspecting customer I guess he could have asked for more.

Mine did not come with any postage due. But I do feel that about 8:00am will be due time to smoke my Bones pipe whilst the morning dew is still in the grass.... Do you agree?

Since my 8:00 AM grass will have more snow and ice than dew, I might have to pass on that proposition ;) Plus, despite my best efforts to convince the little lady that pipes must be inspected and smoked within 4 hours of delivery to ensure all terms and conditions of the manufacturer warranty are met, I'll be waiting at least until Christmas Day to see exactly what I have.
Seems that someone at the post office is a little confused, or just really needs that extra dollar, plus tax.

I've noticed a lot of hiccups in the USPS the past few weeks. I had a package that was sent to the post office a town away and then get sent back to the facility and then back to my post office in the correct town. Came a day or two later.

IMHO, I'd send an e-mail and just clarify it with him or maybe just do the right thing and give a heads up so hopefully it doesn't happen again, although this is the USPS we're talking about here, so it probably will happen again to another unfortunate soul. But if they needed more postage I'd assume it would've been sent back to the original location than go to your doorstep??

I have no idea how the USPS works, but I'm with you in the thought that lack of postage would result in the package not getting sent. Oh well, I'm happy that wasn't the case. I've asked the wife to email a heads up with the order info as well.
We've had some crazy mail issues around here lately. Quite a few friends, including me, have had Christmas cards torn open before delivery. We even had a postal guy not too long ago get caught using stolen pre-paid credit cards, although the USPS official statement is that there isn't enough evidence to take any action. Still, we can't forget that the vast number of employees are honest and doing a great job.

Well, maybe that's just it if you've had a few hiccups recently. I'd still just e-mail Chris and let him know of the situation. Maybe others have had the same problem. I've had a few opened or torn up too. Just seems like the holidays is when the sh*t hits the fans for the USPS since everyone and their mothers mailing out anything and everything to everyone, plus the workers probably working longer shifts for the season to get everything out before Christmas.
