I'm actually writing this on my wife's behalf.
Last week Tuesday her Grandmother was admitted to the hospital for what was believed to be pneumonia. Well, by Thursday they had her hooked up to a ventilator and in the ICU. Apparently the pulmonary fibrosis she was diagnosed with in February was very aggressive and had started shutting off vessels in the lungs.
Yesterday afternoon, after her uncle (an Army doc of 20 years) confirmed the diagnosis and situation with the treating doctor, the decision was made to remove the ventilator. Her grandmother passed at around 3:30 yesterday afternoon.
It's been a very rough week for her, and she is now working to help her mom make funeral arrangements. Looks like this memorial day will not exactly be the most funfilled.
