Question for those coffee experts: Coffee to Water ratio

What is the coffee per water ratio you all think is best? When using the french press I typically do 7 grams of ground coffee to a cup (8oz) of water, but that is only because what the bodium spoon tells me to do. Wonder what you guys recommend

Everyone has their own tastes when it comes to coffee...just like our cigars. Start out with the recommended ratio and if it's too weak add more...if it's too strong then use less. I like to add froth on top ( about 1/4 cup ) and 2 packets of sugar for 16 ounces...dollop with a bit of whipped cream and I'm in heaven.

The link is a great one that pretty much details what the User should be doing. Filtered water is a must...good beans with a course grind is a must as well. I let it sit for 4 minutes which is long enough for me. I've read where some will use just a fine pinch of salt in the grounds to keep away bitterness but I haven't tried that...guess it might be useful if you have to use canned coffee instead of really good beans.
