  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I found a great deal on a BOX of Padron 1964 on Craigslist for $100. the lady said he parents were traveling in NIC on thier annual trip back home and they always bring her back a box of these cigars for her boss. This time they grabbed an extra box AT THE FACTORY. So I split it with a guy from work, and two days later a Fed ex soft pak envelope showed up with a F’N BUNDLE of the worst looking fakes I had ever seen, not even a BOX like she said. I was super pissed. I called her at her office, which was an attorney’s office. She had previously mentioned that her career in the legal field was too valuable to fraud me on fakes. When I called her and sent her pictures of authentic 64’s she got all pissy, saying her parents weren’t lying,..etc blah blah blah. I ended up calling her boss and bithcin to him about his employee’s fraudulent activity. He said he enjoys those cigars, and had no “dog in the hunt” so to stop calling. Oh well, my buddy took the loss along with me, and I promised to stop by the office if I were ever in San Fran, and tell them personally to ……….you get the picture

No need to get worried, guys! It was purely a joke. Sometimes we re-band cigars and give them to friends as a joke, but always let them know afterward and make up for it! For example, Ben is getting an original release Tat Noella Reserva from me, and maybe a Jibaro as well if he's nice. It's all in good fun!

I have some "Ultra special edition" Fauxhibas for trade. Picked these bad boys up in Tampa for $20. It's like the counterfeiter's weren't even trying. Just lazy.

LOL
That is pretty awesome! I love how the bands don't even line up! And the yellow cellophane? WTF!

Like you said, no effort was made here at all!

About a year or so ago, I took a little tour of cigar stores here in the San Fernando Valley (I won't mention any names).

About half of them had fake Cuban cigars...Not too surprising, really.

The counterfeiters had pretty much replicated the normal things you would look for...The warranty seal, the chevron, the heat stamp on the bottom, etc.

The thing that really got me was that they had created and added another stamp to the botom of the box. I forget now what it was, but it was a circle, and had Spanish writing inside.

...WTF? Why would you make up something that doesn't even exisit on a real box of Cubans and add it? They might as well have just placed gigantic, flourescent orange sticker on the box with the words "these are not authentic!"

Unbelievable!

I knew someone who got to try a pre-release 2018 Limited Edition Regional release Cohiba. I would have given/paid anything to join him. I just hope I don't over hype it before it comes out. :hearteyes

Yeah, that seemed odd to me as well. Also notice the "Punch" ribbon holding the bundle together? Now that is just being resourceful. Nothing goes to waste in this economy. The scotch tape on the top may have been a very old Cuban tradition.....
